Virga III is the third installment in Eluvium's experimental and inspired series, and the first in nearly five years. In stark contrast to the dense, unsettling atmosphere of Virga II, the works that comprise Virga III offer an almost divine reprieve. The nervous tension, loss of control, and patient reinterpretation that animate each volume of the Virga series manifest uniquely here. The tracks on Virga III are composed and performed by Cooper, as always, but within the Virga universe, he primarily experiences an unprecedented internal collaboration. As Cooper explains, "The Virga series offers me the opportunity to reconnect with an older version of myself, but with new understanding. By cultivating greater patience in my interaction with these musical systems and recordings, I timidly embark on a duet with my past self, within a new performance or instrumental layer, only after having thoroughly digested the first, until it evokes new feelings, in the hope of cultivating a form of consciousness and self-discovery with therapeutic aims. A blend of exploratory spirit and pictorial emotional resonance, unfolding gradually."
