Big Crown Records presents Adult Themes, the new album by El Michels Affair that pushes the Cinematic Soul aesthetic to new heights. A pioneer of the instrumental funk and soul movement since 2005 with Sounding Out The City, Leon Michels has since left his mark on the industry by collaborating with renowned artists such as Adele, Lana Del Rey, and the Wu-Tang Clan. Co-founder of Big Crown Records in 2016, he offers with this opus a long-awaited return to original compositions. The project draws its source from interludes initially intended for hip-hop (sampled by Jay-Z and Travis Scott), influenced by 1960s composers like David Axelrod and François de Roubaix. Conceived as the soundtrack to an imaginary film, Adult Themes navigates between richly orchestrated tracks with powerful drums like Rubix and Villa, and more minimalist and sophisticated pieces like Kill The Lights. The album also includes Life of Pablo, marking the first participation of Michels' son on a recording.
