A country of multiple influences, on the borders of Europe and Asia, Georgia boasts some high Caucasian peaks and seaside resorts on the Black Sea. We know its long tradition of polyphonic singing, but perhaps less about its nightlife, and even less about the growing importance of contemporary music.
The youth dance and the youth compose. Eko & Vinda Folio are two of its most worthy representatives.
"Therapy," their debut album, delivers enchanting romanticism, an alcove where everyone can draw their dreams. The two musicians define the contours of a poetic and singular universe with enigmatic lyrics (even more so for us).
And this song is a journey in itself. Erekle Deisadze's deep voice (sometimes almost sepulchral) is echoed on some tracks by Vinda Folio's. This language, with intonations sometimes as rounded as its alphabet, slowly and lastingly insinuates itself into us. This music, which elegantly oscillates between cold-wave, dream-pop, and dance rhythms (a dark and cold dance, but so addictive), borrows its influences from Anglo-Saxon post-punk culture while being rooted in the musicians' daily lives.
