EIVØR considers her native Faroe Islands a landscape of extremes. Located in the North Atlantic Ocean and populated by approximately 50,000 inhabitants, these islands have a climate "full of contrasts: very dark and heavy winters and bright summers." These contrasts have inspired EIVØR's music throughout her career. Often considered one of the most prolific and unique Nordic artists of her generation, EIVØR has released 11 studio albums to date, traversing musical genres and always pushing the boundaries of the expected. Awarded the Nordic Council Music Prize in 2021, EIVØR's musical journey continues to fascinate and has seen her perform worldwide, from Europe's biggest festivals to the soundtrack of Netflix's hit series ‘The Last Kingdom’ or the video game ‘God of War: Ragnarök’. Her upcoming album, ‘Enn’, reconnects with these Nordic roots. Most of the lyrics, entirely sung in Faroese, were written in collaboration with poet Marjun Syderbø Kjelnæs. EIVØR describes the lyrics of the title track as particularly "hardcore." The song talks about war – "the wars happening in the world, especially lately, but which have always existed," says EIVØR, "and how to find a glimmer of hope in this overwhelming darkness." The penultimate track, "Upp Úr Øskuni," is an unconventional track, blending beatboxing with visceral guttural singing – it's certainly EIVØR's most metal moment. ‘Enn’ stands out from EIVØR's discography as a bold new adventure. This first album for Season of Mist leans more towards dark electro. With her new Prophet-5 synthesizer barely out of its box, the artist intoned "Hugsi Bert Um Teg," a dream-pop track that invites a journey to the Milky Way. On a large scale, ‘Enn’ follows a cosmic arc. The title track is a symphonic, war-torn space odyssey. But the album also dwells on more earthly concerns. The first single, "Jardartra," is told from the perspective of a wounded earth, calling for help through a pounding bass line, as dark and hot as our planet's molten core. "Come lie in my blue embrace," sings EIVØR, in an operatic register, as if beckoning us towards the light. On ‘Enn’, EIVØR moves heaven and earth.
