By recalling one of its ancestral functions, that of communicating, he transformed the powerful percussion into a rhythmic magnet onto which all the music that shaped and inspired him throughout his musical career converged and aggregated.By intertwining them, Edmony has defined a modern and contemporary vision of gwo ka, far from any folklorization but strictly faithful to Guadeloupean identity. An identity he makes travel through brassy jazz notes or the sequenced loops of a drum machine. The gwo ka, subtly or overtly present as a watermark, remains contained within the rails to ensure the backbone of a piece, a playmate with whom musicians organize wild solo races upon which it unleashes its percussive storms.
