After the sudden passing of the talented Jóhann Jóhannsson in 2018, Deutsche Grammophon made every effort to continue the unfinished work of the composer. The famous yellow label is proud to present today a new album by the composer, '12 Conversations with Thilo Heinzmann,' featuring works performed by the Echo Collective, with whom he often collaborated. Close for over fourteen years, Jóhannsson and Berlin-based painter Thilo Heinzmann had sought to explore together the question of the creative process between visual art and music. For more than four years, the two friends engaged in dialogue on this subject, ultimately bringing to life a work for string quartet consisting of twelve movements. Obsessed with the texture of sound, the composer created throughout his life hypnotic and lyrical music of exceptional refinement.
