Toward The Sun

Description

In this sweltering summer month of 1975, upon the release of *Toward The Sun*, Druid, a young band with meteoric success, enjoyed the support of DJ Bob Harris (producer of the album) and the British music magazine *The Melody Maker* (whose competition they had just won). Druid's first album falls within the AOR vein that some major prog bands would explore in the late 1970s. Acoustic guitars, flutes, and lush keyboards intertwine, all wrapped in a layer of symphonic prog enhanced by more daring instrumental passages. In other words, *Toward The Sun* is a fairly classic example of late 1970s mainstream prog. The composition is top-notch, with superb melodies and lyrics that ring true. A recurring theme runs through the album: dreams and the art of dreaming. From the "long night dreams" of the opening track *Voices* to *Shangri-La* "there I will find my dreams, and one day I will return when the world has changed." All instruments blend harmoniously to produce a rich, balanced sound, full of nuance. The album "Toward The Sun" is available in a limited edition of 750 individually numbered copies, pressed on yellow and orange marbled vinyl, and includes a booklet.
