With Modern Mirror, Drab Majesty offers a modern reinterpretation of the Narcissus myth, transposed to the era of digital identities and filtered desire. Recorded in Athens, this third album takes the synthesis of cold wave, dark romanticism, and retro science fiction even further, within a luminous and hypnotic aesthetic. Deb Demure and Mona D. explore the torments of love and ego across eight tracks that are as ethereal as they are catchy, driven by guitars drenched in reverb, elegiac synths, and haunting refrains. Between new wave nostalgia and futuristic melancholy, Modern Mirror evokes both New Order and The Cure, in a quest for self interspersed with doubt, beauty, and disillusionment. Produced by Josh Eustis (Telefon Tel Aviv) and mastered by Dave Cooley, the album features guests such as Jasamine White-Gluz (No Joy) and Justin Meldal-Johnsen (NIN, M83), while retaining the mysterious and captivating identity that has made Drab Majesty a unique cult in the contemporary synth-pop scene.
