{"product_id":"donna-mcghee_make-it-last-forever_2019","title":"Make It Last Forever","description":"Make It Last Forever, released in 1978, is a cult record. Not only for the talent of the singer but also for that of the legendary producer duo Greg Carmichael and Patrick Adams. Composed of five tracks written by the two partners, the album is the prototype of the underground disco album of the late 70s, enhanced by Donna's superb voice. The original album holds a prominent place on collectors' \"want-lists,\" and this is the first time in decades that it is available in its original form with remastered audio. Donna McGhee is one of the key singers of the New York disco scene of the 70s. Originally from Brooklyn, she began her career singing from a young age in her grandmother's gospel choir. Bassist Johnny Flippin spotted her and invited her to join his funk group, the Fatback Band led by drummer Bill Curtis. Following a pivotal meeting with producer Greg Carmichael, Donna McGhee began working with the prolific producer and his partner Patrick Adams. You can hear Donna on classic albums by Bumblebee Unlimited, The Universal Robot Band, and on the self-titled album by Phreek. In 1978, after creating her own label, Red Greg Records, Carmichael, assisted by Patrick Adams, decided to produce an album for McGhee. The two producers played most of the instruments on the album and produced five tracks. The result, Make It Last Forever, is a classic: fluid disco arrangements with a touch of synthesizers over an unrelenting groove, magnified by Donna McGhee's superbly sexy voice. It features \"I'm A Love Bug,\" a remake of the Bumblebee Unlimited track from 1976, \"Love Bug,\" and \"Make It Last Forever,\" later covered by Inner Life. \"Do As I Do\" and \"Mr. Blindman\" are of the same caliber, and \"It Ain’t No Big Thing\" is a cover of a single by the group Personal Touch from 1976. This track is one of the highlights of the album and has become a true disco standard. Make It Last Forever did not have a huge impact upon its release in 1978, which accounts for its rarity. Since then, it has become one of the most sought-after disco records, proving that the combination of Donna McGhee, Greg Carmichael, and Patrick Adams was a stroke of genius. The album has since entered the pantheon of must-have albums, which Wewantsounds is now pleased to reissue in its original form.","brand":"Donna Mcghee","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":58239981027672,"sku":null,"price":20191101.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/3700604723769.jpg?v=1787438422","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en\/products\/donna-mcghee_make-it-last-forever_2019","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
