Domi Emorine was a young prodigy of the musette accordion who, after tackling classical music in 1999, now splits her time between Paris and Moscow, forming a duo in 2002 with the Russian accordionist Roman Jbanov and La Milca, a rock band she joined in 2007. Marcel Loeffler needs no introduction: appreciated by the greatest, he has played with all the gypsy musicians of his generation and recorded a good dozen high-level albums; he is also an excellent composer. Accordion duos are not common, as the exercise is indeed not easy; the challenge is perfectly met here. Each listens to the other, and our two accordionists easily stand out by their difference in style and sound; Marcel combines elegance of phrasing, swing, lightning-fast accelerations, and improvisations that are his secret; while Domi's style is more classical and more understated, she also has the fingers and occasionally sends out some beautiful rockets. In their music, these two can play anything and do not hold back. A very beautiful accordion album; a very beautiful album overall.
