Espion the iconic 11-track EP released in 2000 by DJ Mehdi & the Espionnage epic, a link between the rap and electro scenes, re-released for the first time.
It was the late DJ Mehdi who spoke about it best: "Rather than a compilation, this record is a synthesis of the spirit of Espionnage over the past two years, through the rap maxis, instrumental maxis, and remixes that I had the chance to produce. The members of the Sound System, including Yvan from Double Pact (even if he only appears here on an interlude), were essential to the development of the label in general. The Chronowax Distribution team was also crucial to the survival of a structure mainly focused on vinyl production. I must also thank Ulysse Genet who, in addition to lending his name to the title of a song, had the good idea to replace the name "Le Cirque Disques" (which was my initial idea) with "Espionnage", and who designed its first logo. A big thank you to my team: Olivier Rosset, Charlotte Dutoit, Thibaut de Longeville, Alexander Wise and the 360 Creative and Marketing teams as well as X2N, Tom Kan, DJ Gilb'R, Roulé, Crydamoure, Benoît Blue Boy and his daughters Ludella and Amadine who all have something to do with what this record looks like. Without forgetting, of course, my family: the Essadi, Faveris, Gassama, Majira and their branches as well as my second family, the 113 Clan and all the African Mafia - in particular my group, Idéal J, for the respect and freedom with which they let me express the somewhat unusual ideas I had about all of this."
