Forward in reverse

Description

Dizzy Mizz Lizzy, a Danish alternative and progressive rock band formed in 1988, is back. Tim Christensen (vocals, guitar, songwriter), Martin Nielsen (bass guitar), and Soren Friis (drums) achieved enormous success in Denmark and Japan between 1994 and 1997, as the spearhead of the rock revival in Denmark in the early 90s. Christensen himself explained the reasons for the band's success: "Dizzy's albums were a lighter version of what was happening in Seattle, with a two-year delay, which was therefore perfect for Denmark," referring to the grunge movement. After splitting up in 1998, the band reunited in 2010 for a six-month tour in Denmark and Japan before separating again. At the end of 2014, they reunited again and announced a new tour as well as a third studio album called "Forward in Reverse," released on April 29, 2016, in Denmark. This album created quite a stir, as the band had not released anything in 20 years. Tim Christensen explains that even though the band was more influenced by grunge before, for this new album, bands like Megadeth and Slayer inspired him. Thematically, the songs are more assertive and revolve around the observations the singer makes about contemporary society. The lyrics address, among other things, how the internet is both a gift and a curse, invading our private sphere.
