Description

The second album by English rock band Dire Straits, "Communiqué" was released in 1979. It was produced and recorded by Atlantic Records veteran Jerry Wexler and organist Barry Beckett at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas. It is the logical continuation of the band's previous and first album, "Dire Straits", much like the single "Lady Writer" resembles the hit "Sultans of Swing". The album reached number eleven on the US charts and the single "Lady Writer" reached number forty-five. After its release, Bob Dylan invited Mark Knopfler and Pick Withers to participate in the recording of "Slow Train Coming".
