Prokofiev : Intégrale des sonates pour piano
Description
Like many early composers, Prokofiev reused themes and ideas throughout his career: the first example is the first of his numbered piano sonatas, which the composer, then aged xx, reworked from a sonata composed at the age of sixteen. Stylistically, the Second Sonata of 1912 is closer to the mature Prokofiev in its structure, sonority, and harmonic language, with a marked contrast between romanticism, sarcasm, and driving force. Sonatas No. 3 and 4 also reuse earlier material; the Fourth (1917) is subtitled "From Old Notebooks," which somewhat softens its dark, even jazz-influenced atmosphere. The Fifth (1923) offers another striking contrast through its recourse to Mozart's world, in a sublime and detached form of neoclassicism. In 1939, Prokofiev began composing his "War Sonatas," which contain all the elements of his mature style: the subtle harmonies, the romantic but never mawkish emotion of the Sixth, the violence and exaltation of the Seventh, and the more enigmatic atmospheres of the Eighth. This work prefigures the calm, often serene character of the Ninth, composed in 1947. Its dedicatee, Sviatoslav Richter, initially admitted his disappointment at its relative lack of virtuosity, before appreciating its simplicity, so characteristic of Prokofiev's late style. Dinara Klinton's recording of Liszt's Transcendental Études was acclaimed by critics, notably by BBC Music Magazine (5 stars and Choice of the Month), Gramophone, Pianist, and many other reviewers. She now makes her debut on Piano Classics with another monument of the virtuoso piano repertoire. Born in Ukraine, Dinara Klinton was the first winner of the prestigious Benjamin Britten Fellowship. Her musical education began at the age of five in her hometown of Kharkiv, and she graduated with honors from the Central Music School of Moscow, where she studied with Valery Piassetsky. She then continued her studies at the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory under Eliso Virsaladze, and earned her master's degree and artist diploma at the Royal College of Music, where she was an assistant professor of piano and studied under Dina Parakhina.Buy Prokofiev : Intégrale des sonates pour piano at the best price
