The manuscript acquired in 2011 by the Morgan Library in New York indeed stands out as the richest collection of Soler's sonatas; 29 of them are unpublished. For his first recording with Harmonia Mundi, the young harpsichordist Diego Ares reminds us of the strong impression the composer made in 1765 on one of the greats of Spain: "Fray Antonio Soler makes better sonatas every day (...)". Listening to this disc, one bows down: each sonata is indeed... a universe in its own right.
