Paying tribute to this pioneer of French rock whose career spanned more than five decades, this edition features on CD1 some of Dick Rivers' greatest hits, including "Est-ce que tu le sais ?", "C'est pas sérieux" and "Twist à Saint-Tropez", "Tu peins ton visage" with Les Chats Sauvages, and also the essential "Baby John", "Rien que toi", "Viens tout connaître", "Marilou", "Maman n'aime pas ma musique", "Roule pas sur le Rivers", "Faire un pont", "Nicebaie des anges". CD2 contains a selection of his greatest rock tracks, sung in both French and English. The French tracks, some of which feature Les Chats Sauvages, are largely adaptations of legendary standards ("Quand les chats sont là" from "Dance to the Bop" by Gene Vincent, "T'as seize ans demain" from "Sweet Little Sixteen" by Chuck Berry, "Mais oui Baby" from "Maybe Baby" by Buddy Holly, "Mon coeur tu remets ça" and "C'est moi l'King" from "There Goes My Heart Again" and "I'm Walking" by Fats Domino, "Dame de coeur" from "Girls Talk" by Elvis Costello). Also included is the duet "Dans le rôle du Rock" with Francis Cabrel. The English tracks recall Dick Rivers' undeniable power in that language, as well as his ease in tackling different genres (rock'n'roll, rockabilly, country...). Among these covers recorded from the 1960s to the early 2000s: "My Baby Left Me", "Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On", "Twenty Flight Rock", "Reminiscing", "Not Fade Away", "I Got a Woman", "What'd I Say", "Baby Let's Play House", "Summertime Blues", "Well Alright", "Mystery Train" and live versions of "Rip It Up" and "Keep A Knockin'". CD3, meanwhile, explores his crooner style, reminding us how masterfully Dick Rivers handled this repertoire. Includes "Tu n'es plus là" (adapted from "Blue Bayou" by Roy Orbison), "Je continue mon Rock'n'Slow" (from "Rollin' with the Flow"), "L'homme qui se rappelle" (from "Melancholy Man" by The Moody Blues), "Cinq heures du mat"...
