For fans of black metal, Dødheimsgard needs no introduction, as they are one of the great purveyors of creative evolution within Norwegian black metal. The band was formed in 1994 by Aldrahn (Thorns) and Vicotnik (Ved Buens Ende). The early incarnation was that of a raw and melodic black metal outfit, featuring on their debut album Fenriz of Darkthrone on bass, & over time they became known as one of the first avant-garde black metal bands. "Supervillain Outcast" is the fourth album by Dødheimsgard (also known as DHG) and was released in 2007. With mastermind Vicotnik at the helm, it is also the first and only album to feature Mat 'Kvohst' McNerney on vocals (Hexvessel) following the departure of founding member Aldrahn several years prior. Drums were also handled by Czral (Aura Noir), & recorded before an accident rendered him unable to play drums from then on. "Supervillain..." is a perfectly executed, avant-garde venture into black/death and industrial metal, with progressive experimentation that goes far beyond the usual limits of the genre.
