DevilDriver has just released their most brutal album. A perfect mastery of technical and fast riffs delivered at a crazy tempo, supported relentlessly by an ultra punchy drumming. DevilDriver pushes their explorations further by trying to add a new string to their bow. True modern and furious death, that’s all we asked of this band. They become more powerful and compact without shedding some of their quirks. While their brutality is impressive, their predictable and sometimes redundant side can prevent one from fully appreciating the punch throughout. Despite this insignificant detail for fans, the Santa Barbara gang leaves a mark by delivering a formidable record that, without renewing metal, proves that it can still hit hard.
