A dub pioneer and forerunner of lovers rock, the brilliant producer and arranger Dennis "Blackbeard" Bovell has led a prolific and eclectic career, embracing a vast range of musical genres: from dub poetry to lovers rock, from afro-beat to post-punk, from disco to pop and much more. He has collaborated with artists as diverse as Ryuichi Sakamoto, The Slits, Fela Kuti, Linton Kwesi Johnson, The Pop Group, Janet Kay, Orange Juice, Golden Teacher, I Roy, Maximum Joy, Steel Pulse and many others. cLOUD mUsIc offers 8 striking and deep new tracks, originally created for the young British library music label FOLD. Dennis composed these tracks under the influence of cloud-gazing and presented them to FOLD so they could offer them as library music, usable by anyone wishing to use them for background music, films, television shows, advertisements, etc. cLOUD mUsIc represents Dennis's freedom of expression and an invitation to share it. As Dennis explains: "Library music makes all the difference between creating for specific reasons and creating for your own pleasure. cLOUD mUsIc was created as I pleased, without any pressure. The recordings were made at different times and in various studios around the world, with the participation of many musicians. I explored many sounds with different recording devices."
