Since the release of their first album in 1988, Deicide has always caused controversy around the world for its uncompromising lyrics and music. The band has been targeted by pro-Christian groups and animal rights activists, as well as pro-censorship groups. Deicide frontman Glen Benton branded an inverted cross onto his forehead as a statement of intent and was featured in the BBC2 documentary "Death Metal Murders," which was also the band's coverage in the BBC and UK National newspapers. They continue to record and tour to this day.
