The band released two albums between 1995 and 1997, which did not achieve the expected success. It was only in 2000, with the release of White Pony, that sales took off and the Deftones performed at all the festivals. This album is considered by the majority of genre enthusiasts to be the band's reference album, and it perfectly outlines the contours of a nu-metal whose pioneers are none other than Faith no More and Rage Against the Machine.
