Bradford Cox, Lockett Pundt, Moses Archuleta, and Josh McKay make a grand return with 'Fading Frontier'. Co-produced with Ben H. Allen III, continuing the collaboration begun in 2010 on the brilliant Halcyon Digest, this seventh album proves that after 10 years, Deerhunter has lost none of its intensity and stands out as one of the most prolific bands on the contemporary indie rock scene.
For the first time, Bradford Cox and Lockett Pundt sing together on the captivating ‘Breaker,’ while darker tracks like ‘Take Care’ (featuring James Cargill from the band Broadcast) or ‘Leather and Wood’ open the doors to a ghostly landscape. And while the astonishing and brilliant single ‘Snakeskin’ leans towards funk, ‘Ad Astra’ takes us far away with soft synth pads.
After Monomania in 2013, which had a more punk and garage feel, the band returns with a more melodic and ethereal album that will delight Deerhunter connoisseurs and undoubtedly convert any remaining holdouts to the Atlanta band's rock.
