Deep Purple is undoubtedly one of the most important bands in the history of Rock, with albums such as In Rock, Machine Head, or the live Made In Japan, (considered one of the best live albums ever released). With Newcastle 2001, Deep Purple and earMUSIC inaugurate a new collection of live albums, which will be released in remastered, limited, and numbered editions. All the live shows in this collection come from the band's archives and will focus on the last 3 decades. The show in Newcastle 2001 marked Deep Purple's grand return to Australia, with Steve Morse on guitar. Wanting to put on a different show, the band invited singers Jimmy Barnes and Ian Moss, as well as a brass section. Newcastle 2001 will be available in a double CD digipack (limited to 20,000 copies worldwide) and in a triple red vinyl gatefold (limited to 2,000 copies worldwide).
