Deep Purple is one of the greatest rock bands of all time, with over 100 million albums sold since their formation in 1968. The band continues to perform live around the world today and remains a heavyweight in the rock scene. After Ritchie Blackmore's departure in 1975, Deep Purple chose American guitarist Tommy Bolin to replace him. Long Beach 1976, the 6th installment of the Deep Purple Overseas Live Series, is one of the rare concerts recorded by the English band in its MK IV lineup (Bolin - Coverdale - Hughes - Lord - Paice). Recorded during the promotion of the album Come Taste The Band, this live album includes a very unusual version of "Smoke On The Water" that transforms into an extraordinary cover of "Georgia On My Mind," as well as several songs from Come Taste The Band, and even a track from Teaser, Tommy Bolin's solo album. Three songs from another concert (Springfield, January 1976) from the same tour conclude this live album. Benefiting from a perfect restoration, Long Beach 1976 will undoubtedly be a true gem in the collection of all Deep Purple fans.
