Debout Sur Le Zinc has teamed up with Productions Jacques Canetti to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Boris Vian's birth in the most beautiful way! 'Vian par Debout Sur Le Zinc' is an album revisiting the greatest texts of the famous multidisciplinary artist. Jacques Canetti, the legendary artistic director, was the man who launched Boris Vian onto the scene in 1955 at his Théâtre des 3 Baudets, and who recorded numerous songs interpreted and orchestrated by the greatest artists.
Debout Sur Le Zinc – lovers of the French language and long-time admirers of Boris Vian's writings – have completely reappropriated his texts, all written between 1951 and 1959, to transform them into songs – a first for some of these writings. Boris Vian's words were very avant-garde and still sound terribly contemporary (such as the lyrics of 'Ne vous mariez pas les filles' which, as early as 1958, denounced the vulgarity and violence of some men towards women, even within marriage).
