Fauré & Saint-Saëns: the master and the student. With a new conductor, Thomas Zehetmair, and a new name, the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris gives free rein to its First Violin, Deborah Nemtanu. Alternating within the orchestra or as a soloist, the young violinist retraces the "master-student" connection that united Saint-Saëns and Fauré. From the former, Deborah Nemtanu has recorded a rare work, the concerto opus 20, a youthful score that reveals a romantic, exalted, impassioned Saint-Saëns. In the mirror of this young master's work, we find the fullness of Fauré with his suite Pelléas et Mélisande, which the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris has been playing for many years. The French spirit of this disc would not be complete without the crackling virtuosity of the Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso (Saint-Saëns) or the sweetness of the Romances and Berceuses by these two composers. So many musical clearings to escape the Wagnerian mists or the Brahmsian polyphonies.
