Description

Since the 2008 rediscovery of Death and the release of the archival album '...For The Whole World To See,' the band's story has become well-known. The three African-American Hackney brothers, originally from Detroit, logically extended the Stooges' sonic explosion, making it the missing link between 60s rock and late 70s punk. Since 2008, two other albums of material recorded at the time have been released on Drag City: 'Spiritual/Mental/Physical' and 'Death III'. But 'N.E.W.' is a different matter entirely. It features compositions started in the mid-70s but never finished back then, as well as new tracks written by the band members who have been touring for several years. It showcases that strong connection between energetic music and spirituality.
