Under The Spell Of Joy - Vinyle Os Et Rouge

Description

FOURTH TRANSCENDENTAL ALBUM FOR THE LOS ANGELES GARAGE-PSYCH BAND. For this new album, Death Valley Girls immerse us in a vocal atmosphere, right from the first track "Hypnagogia" and Bonnie Bloomgarden's melodic invocations supported by a choir. The song slowly builds on the impulse of Pickle's (Nicole Smith) bass and Rikki Styxx's drums. The bleating of guest saxophonist Gabe Flores swirls above the organ drones played by Gregg Foreman, another guest on the album. The opening track gives way to "Hold My Hand" and its verses reminiscent of The Velvet Underground's "I'm Waiting for the Man" and its triumphant choruses. Next is the title track which marries the gloom of The Stooges with an innocence provided by the children's choir singing the album's main mantra: "under the spell of joy/under the spell of love". On "Bliss Out", Death Valley Girls delivers a pop song with a worn-in feel, driven by a keyboard line from keyboardist The Kid (Laura Kelsey). Similar euphoria appears on "The Universe", where organ chords elevate the saxophone and keyboard lines above the stratosphere. With 'Under The Spell Of Joy', Death Valley Girls delivers their transcendental rock album!
