Sophisticated Boom Boom is the first album by the pop group Dead or Alive, released in 1984. An emblematic figure of synth-goth, the group made history with this record. Pete Burns' extravagant appearances and theatrical vocals were characteristic of this new formation. Their tracks incorporate synthpop and dance elements. The album contains their first hit single, a cover of "That's the Way (I Like It)" by KC & the Sunshine Band. The music, characterized by monotonous growls and moans, also offers effective dance rhythms. The other single taken from the album is "Misty Circles". Dead or Alive achieved success in the mid-1980s and sold over 50 million albums worldwide. The founder and singer, Pete Burns, died in 2016, and the group has since disbanded.The album Sophisticated Boom Boom is available in a limited edition of 1000 individually numbered copies on translucent purple vinyl and is presented in a deluxe sleeve with a leather-laminated finish.
