Description

Arnaud Fournier (guitarist and composer for the groups 'Hint' and 'La Phaze') returns with a new UFO project, Dead Hippies. With over 1,000 concerts worldwide and a dozen albums to his name, Arnaud once again takes the gamble of breaking down genre barriers, creating a bridge between noisy post-rock and dance-floor electro. The result is powerful and haunting music, combining massive binary beats with muffled, distorted electro bass lines, over which screaming guitars and a few 'gimmick'-style vocals ride. Some tracks stand out for their more cinematic aspect, with a slowed-down bpm, melodies that evoke the dust of a good old spaghetti western or Factory films. The visual staging of the Dead Hippies project is entrusted to Cyril Teste and his collective MxM (known for their shows blending video, actors, and musicians). Dead Hippies consists of 4 guitarists (Fender Jazzmaster) and a wall of amps, under the video projections of the MxM Collective; thus creating a perfect balance between the ravaging madness of the music and the rhythm of visual movements. Dead Hippies can be conceived as a form of reconciliation, both stabilizing and destabilizing, between the music of the body and the music of the mind, between dance and feedback.
