Description

Author, performer, and illustrator, De Féline is an unconventional artist and a frenetic creator. After more than 30 years on the road with various collectives, most notably with Les Barbarins Fourchus, De Féline embarks on a different path. The Grenoble-based artist, with his deep, unvarnished voice and instinctive prose, presents a debut album where, with his fierce pen, he delivers, like little poetic nuggets, his perspective on the city, life, and especially love. High Down Kisses is a tender tribute to the fragility and impermanence of the world. Through his songs, he explores the raw landscapes of the bare soul in a meandering, unvarnished way. For this first album, he was supported by Guillaume Asseline, also known as Moon Pilot, whose catchy pop rhythms envelop the sensitive and wild lyrics. The composer and multi-instrumentalist from Angers also encouraged him to work on his voice differently, more deliberately, seeking the space between words, sounds, and silences. "We sought a form of slowness, in opposition to the frantic pace of our time, a form of softness, perhaps as a counterpoint to a brutal world, without erasing that unique grit that has always accompanied me..." Many guests, met during the artist's adventures – with Lo'Jo, Zenzile, René Lacaille... – participated in the recording: Malika, Yamina, and Nadia Nid El Mourid and Lucie Noirault on vocals, Florian Chéreau and STW on guitar, Marco Lacaille on percussion, Raggy Sevret on tenor saxophone, Richard Bourreau on violin, Jean-Baptiste Noujaim on cello, Nicolas Gallard on drums, Boochon on trombone, Babette on baritone saxophone, and Kham Meslien on bass and double bass. Phantasmagorical, dazzling, sometimes mischievous visions, tinged with bewitching pop, evanescent atmospheres, or electro-folk, High Down Kisses reminds us of our impetuous animality, with tilted heads and Technicolor hearts.
