Description

When they talk about De Calm, Mickaël Serrano and Guillaume Carayol prefer to speak of a club rather than a group. A club over which they have the privilege of being simultaneously presidents, coaches and players. The former composes and plays, the latter writes and sings. The alchemy then works in the studio and on stage, with the contribution of musicians who blend into the collective. Their second album, “Amour Athlétic Club,” brings together 11 songs. One can, of course, see in it a nod to Guillaume’s footballing years with Toulouse F.C. But while sport surfaces here and there, it is merely a pretext for love songs. There is first love (“Un Jour de Mai”), forgotten love (“En 601”), cinephile love (“Le Film qui ne se fera jamais”), and even self-loathing (“Les Plongeoirs”). 11 variations on the only theme that constantly challenges our physical and mental abilities.
