{"product_id":"ddamage_radio-ape-2-vinyls_2022_lad","title":"RADIO APE (2 vinyls)","description":"January 26, 2004, dDamage released their third album: Radio Ape. It was the explosive arrival of a commanding monkey, impressive in its strength and power. Behind the name dDamage are two Frenchmen: Frederic and Jean-Baptiste Hanak, two brothers who, at the beginning of this century, would form one of the most atypical and singular groups in the French music scene. At first glance, it seems difficult to classify the duo's creations into a particular genre, as their influences are so varied. While Frederic comes more from Hip-Hop, Jean-Baptiste is more influenced by Rock: two different sensitivities that converge to create a work full of originality. Thus, one finds twisted hip-hop samples, tortuous electro pads, modified voices, and saturated guitars. An album that could be an explosive mix of Autechre and Sonic Youth. It was therefore not surprising to see this album released in 2004 on 'Planet-Mu', Mike Paradinas' (u-ziq) label, a renowned English school of 'Intelligent Dance Music' and 'breakbeat' that also produced Venetian Snares, Luke Vibert, and Richard D. James. Fiercely noisy, yet firmly rooted in the hip-hop movement, dDamage's music begins by intriguing, then ends up transporting the listener. Dense and compact, the apparent brutality of Radio Ape often gives way to equally captivating and perceptible melodies. This is felt on certain very moving tracks such as \"Liquid words\", \"Aeroplanes\", or \"Maeban\". dDamage's Radio Ape is a complex universe, reflecting the unique syntax found in their name and in the song titles: \"I feel so BadD\", \"Tsunamiii\" – right down to the visuals developed by Raoul Sinier and that monkey with the enigmatic smile, etched in our memories. Radio Ape is glitch by nature, an album that glorifies chaos and confusion. We are constantly torn between destruction and creation. Far from seeking perfection, dDamage strives, through experimentation, to highlight the asperities of sound signals to create a timeless, haunting, and unclassifiable work. Eighteen years after its release, the label here is very happy to offer for the first time a reissue of this memorable album, which will finally be released in vinyl and CD format. This reissue includes not only the thirteen original tracks from Radio Ape but also four tracks from the 'Pressure' EP released in 2004 and three unreleased bonus tracks from the album's recording session.","brand":"dDamage","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":55310270005592,"sku":null,"price":20220325.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0898\/4943\/0360\/files\/3521381568257_0c39d6fd-5f8d-4e77-ad17-1fae08f77dbf.jpg?v=1760318179","url":"https:\/\/vinyles.com\/en\/products\/ddamage_radio-ape-2-vinyls_2022_lad","provider":"Vinyles.com","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
