Parlophone Records is proud to announce the release of ROCK'N'ROLL STAR!, a 5CD/Blu-ray audio box set exploring David Bowie's creative period beginning in February 1971, during the creation of the Ziggy Stardust character, extended by the recording of the essential album 'THE RISE AND FALL OF ZIGGY STARDUST AND THE SPIDERS FROM MARS' (and capturing international Ziggymania with British radio sessions, TV performances and live tracks from the concert by Ziggy and the Spiders at the Boston Music-Hall, on October 1, 1972. ROCK 'N' ROLL STAR!), contains 29 previously unreleased tracks, with demos, recordings with his band The Arnold Corns, rehearsals at Haddon Hall, Bowie's home, BBC sessions, singles, live performances, studio outtakes and alternative versions taken from the recording sessions mixed by Ken Scott, producer of the original album + 2 books.Highlights of these rarities include an alternative version of 'Lady Stardust', a previously unreleased take of the sought-after 'Shadow Man' and an uptempo re-reading of 'I Can't Explain' by the Who, which would appear in a slowed-down version on the PIN-UPS album. ROCK 'N' ROLL STAR! also contains two books.The first book contains 112 pages of detailed notes, memorabilia, period chronicles and articles, rare photos by Barrie Wentzel, Michael Putland, Mick Rock, Sukita and Alec Byrne, as well as new essays and interviews with Ken Scott, Mark Carr Pritchett and Anya Wilson, in charge of David Bowie's promotion during this period.A 36-page reproduction of Bowie's personal notebooks from the Ziggy Stardust period also accompanies this book.
