Coffret Space Oddity 50ème anniversaire/2 45tours

Description

"As part of the 50th anniversary celebration of David Bowie's first hit and following the releases of ‘Spying Through A Keyhole’, ‘Clareville Grove Demos’ and the compilation ‘Mercury’ Demos’, Parlophone will release the double 7-inch single box set SPACE ODDITY, featuring new mixes by Tony Visconti. This vinyl box set and the digital streaming and download version of the Space Oddity single edit (2019 mix) will be available on July 12, one day after the original single's release date 50 years ago. The double 7-inch single box set SPACE ODDITY comes in packaging that includes a poster of the original press advertisement for the single and a photo by Ray Stevenson capturing David Bowie at the ‘Save Rave ‘69’ concert at the London Palladium on November 30, 1969, with a NASA astronaut in the background. This box set also features a print of an unreleased photograph by Jojanneke Claassen taken during the photo session for the single's cover. The original mono single cover is illustrated by the rare UK promotional copy's cover image. The 7-inch singles' labels are illustrated with the specially recreated Philips logo for this 50th anniversary. The single has been remastered from the original analog tapes. The sleeve for Tony Visconti's 2019 mixes is illustrated with an alternative photograph by Ray Stevenson taken at the ‘Save Rave ‘69’ concert. Released as a single on July 11, 1969, Space Oddity was also the opening track of David Bowie's second album. Inspired by Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, the song achieved immense success after being chosen as the unofficial theme for the Apollo 11 moon landing, five days after the single's release. 50 years ago, Space Oddity embarked on an endless journey, just like its main character, Major Tom. Composed and demoed in November 1968, the song has had several lives, from its appearance in the television program Love You Til Tuesday in an early incarnation with John ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson, to its Italian cover version ("Ragazzo solo, Ragazza sola"), before receiving the Ivor Novello Special Award for Originality in May 1970. The song became Bowie's first hit on both sides of the Atlantic (No. 5 in the UK in 1969, No. 1 in the UK in 1975 and No. 15 in the USA in 1973). In 2013, it served as the musical theme for the first music video shot in space with its cover by Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield aboard the International Space Station, and Major Tom was a recurring character in Bowie's career, appearing in the songs "Ashes to Ashes", "Hallo Spaceboy" and in the music video for "Dead Man Walking". Tracklisting: Single 1 Side A SPACE ODDITY (ORIGINAL MONO SINGLE EDIT) Side B WILD EYED BOY FROM FREECLOUD (ORIGINAL MONO SINGLE VERSION) Single 2 Side A SPACE ODDITY (2019 MI"
