'April 2023 will mark the 50th anniversary of the release of David Bowie’s ALADDIN SANE, just ten months after the seminal THE RISE AND FALL OF ZIGGY STARDUST AND THE SPIDERS FROM MARS. Its title track, "Panic In Detroit", "Lady Grinning Soul" and "Time" showcased a singular musical evolution from its predecessor with the inclusion of brass, woodwind, soul choruses, and Mike Garson’s unique piano playing. On April 14th, 2023, a week before its golden jubilee, ALADDIN SANE will be reissued on limited edition 50th-anniversary half-speed remastered vinyl and picture disc, both made from the same master. The album's release was preceded by the singles "The Jean Genie" and "Drive-In Saturday". They had respectively reached second and third place in the UK singles charts, while the album topped the UK albums chart for the first time. In the United States, the album entered the top 20 and an edited version of "Time" was released as a single. The album cover is one of the most famous of all time, and rumored to be the most expensive in history at the time. Brian Duffy, who would also photograph the covers for LODGER (1979) and SCARY MONSTERS (AND SUPER CREEPS) (1980) created the famous shot of Bowie made up with his iconic red and blue lightning bolt, an image forever etched into the global cultural lexicon. The new pressing of ALADDIN SANE was made on a Neumann VMS80 lathe from 192kHz digital transfers of the original master tapes with no additional processing during the transfer. Bowie described ALADDIN SANE as "Ziggy goes to Washington: Ziggy affected by America". This album was Ziggy Stardust’s farewell, who would bow out three months after the LP's release at the famous final concert of the Spiders From Mars at London's Hammersmith Odeon in July 1973.'
