Uncharted Territories

Description

Uncharted Territories is a project released in 2CD and 3LP formats, bringing together Dave Holland (former bassist of Miles Davis) and saxophonist Evan Parker, a long-time friend from their early career in London. They are joined by Craig Taborn (pianist for James Carter), who also plays electronics, and Ches Smith on percussion. In addition to the quartet improvisations, they demonstrate on this record their proficiency in all possible duo and trio combinations. The group also recorded two compositions by Smith and one by Holland. The 23 resulting tracks present a series of deep, multi-layered conversations among the musicians, some of whom were playing together for the first time.
