In 2024, Darren lost a friend to cancer. 'Amazing Things' is an album about death, but it’s not gloomy, slow, or quiet. Instead, it’s bursting with joyous, melodic guitars and some of Darren's most beautiful songs. At times very sad, it is also sincere, affectionate, and rewarding. Darren Hayman recorded the album almost entirely solo, and this time he delved deep into his main instrument, the electric guitar, creating a sound rich in timbre and texture. Darren Hayman is a British songwriter best known for his work with the late 90s band Hefner, but he has since composed over 20 albums dedicated to astronauts, the English Civil War, William Morris, Lidos, and Thankful Villages. He lives in South London with his dog.
