Description

A pioneer of French atmospheric music since 1996, Dark Sanctuary is back with their eighth album, Cernunnos, their first in fourteen years. Following the EP Iterum released in 2022, it marks the band's return to the forefront of the music scene.
Cernunnos is an ancient Gallic god who embodied the biological cycle of nature, reflecting both life and death, germination and decomposition, much like the deer, his emblematic animal, which sheds its antlers in winter only to regrow them in spring.
This title perfectly symbolizes Dark Sanctuary's journey after these years of artistic hiatus and their renaissance.
Composed in 2022, the 11 tracks on this album make it one of Dark Sanctuary's most varied to date, oscillating between what has characterized the band for two decades and new musical horizons.
Both dark and moving, Cernunnos is a new milestone in the band's history.
