OMM is proud to announce the WORLD PREMIERE release of Philip Glass's opera SATYAGRAHA performed by the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra under the direction of Dante Anzolini, featuring Richard Croft in the role of Gandhi and a five-star cast. The work recounts the years Gandhi spent in South Africa during which he developed his philosophy of non-violence. In the DVD, in addition to the 24-page color booklet illustrated with numerous photos and featuring an interview with Philip Glass (also included in the CD booklet), there is a bonus filmed interview with the composer, co-director of the opera Julian Crouch, members of the Skills Ensemble, and choir master Donald Palumbo. The opera, sung in Sanskrit, remains subtitled in English, German, French, and Spanish, and a large part of the text is visually projected onto the set.
