He wishes to communicate a message of empathy and solidarity.The recording phase of *Modern Pressure* took place in a small studio in the isolated town of Finnsas, Sweden, during August 2016 (with strings and brass added at Baldwin Street Sound in Toronto in October 2016). Recorded by long-time collaborator Kenneth Meehan, this album required a frantic pace of work that lends itself to the nature of the songs themselves.
