Fly Me To The Moon

Description

Starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, *Fly Me To The Moon* is a sharp, stylish romantic comedy-drama set against the high-stakes backdrop of NASA’s historic Apollo 11 moon landing. Sparks fly in all directions as marketing expert Kelly Jones (Scarlett Johansson), brought in to polish NASA’s public image, wreaks havoc on launch director Cole Davis’s (Channing Tatum) already arduous task. When the White House deems the mission too important to fail, Jones is ordered to stage a fake moon landing as a backup plan, and the countdown truly begins. On the *Fly Me To The Moon* soundtrack, Daniel Pemberton perfectly balances the contrast between the vital importance of NASA's mission to the moon and the more comical, heist-movie-like episodes in the story. Pemberton also took care to incorporate the film's era into the soundtrack's composition, drawing inspiration from the many musical pieces featured in the film, by artists such as Sam Cooke. "I really wanted to capture that joyful energy and lightness that you find in some of those great 60s albums," he explains, referencing Quincy Jones's works, including the soundtracks for *The Italian Job* and *Big Band Bossa Nova*. "They have a really fun vibe, but are still musically interesting, with a lightness and great positive energy." Between jazz and poetry, you'll find tracks composed by Claude Nougaro, Baden Powell, Vinicius De Moraes, Maurice Vander, Michel Legrand, Michel Portal, and Dave Brubeck. This edition also includes the two iconic singles "Bidonville" and "Armstrong," true gems of the artist's repertoire. An essential rediscovery for music lovers and collectors.
