My tribute to Yehudi Menuhin

Description

This new album is a selection of the most beautiful works, mainly commissioned by and for Yehudi Menuhin. Next April will mark the centenary of the violin legend Yehudi Menuhin. On this occasion, Daniel Hope dedicates an album to his former mentor and friend. "Yehudi Menuhin is the reason I became a violinist. I had the privilege of knowing him my whole life - as he used to say, I fell on his knees, like a baby at the age of two." (Daniel Hope) It features the famous Takemitsu's Nostalghia, the Duet by Reich for 2 violins and string orchestra, the El-Khouri Unfinished Journey, and the Concerto for 2 violins by Vivaldi, played many times by the two musicians together. Daniel Hope draws inspiration from his own learning with Yehudi Menuhin and decides to offer his trust and teaching to Daniel Lozakovitj, a 14-year-old Swedish prodigy violinist, to interpret several duos for two violins by Bartok.
