Daneshevskaya is the project of Anna Beckerman - a Brooklyn-based school social worker - who writes songs steeped in the folklore of her personal history. The seven brilliant songs on Long Is The Tunnel sound like an ode to the singer's Lithuanian family roots. While her music can be delicate and dreamy, it is underpinned by a sense of great ambition. Co-produced by Ruben Radlauer of art-rock band Model/Actriz, Hayden Ticehurst and Artur Szerejko, Long Is The Tunnel is her debut album on Winspear and features contributions from Lewis Evans of Black Country, New Road. While her debut EP Bury Your Horses knitted together the fixed points and mysteries of human connection, Long Is The Tunnel contemplates how the people one meets influence the path one travels. The dark melancholia of her love songs is more a manifestation of her inner self than anyone else's. It's a unique collage of traditional songwriting and modern turns of phrase that remain spellbound by the untarnished brilliance of self-discovery.
