dance arts center is the maximalist musical and performative project of Los Angeles-based artist Nicolette Norgaard. Rooted in electronic music and storytelling, it blends club and theater, where the performer's soul meets the producer's tools. Her first project, dance arts center presents, is a conceptual mixtape envisioned as a fictional musical soundtrack, complete with an overture and an intermission. The songs explore the roles we play in love, emotional transformations, and stories that continue even after the show ends. Musically, it’s synthetic and groovy dance music, tinged with indie pop and meticulous songwriting, where each track tells a profound story. On stage, DAC becomes a live experience, blending Bob Fosse-inspired choreography, characters, and skits in a "deconstructed theater" that pushes the boundaries between music and theater.
