Life

Description

Prolific Parisian vocalist and active on the reggae-dub scene for about ten years, Daman is the founder of the groups Sparky Riot and KillaSoundYard. With dozens of vinyl or digital releases to his name, the singer has collaborated with Indy Boca, Zion Train, Sak Dub-I (...) and his productions are played by the biggest English sound systems: Channel One, Jah Shaka, and Jah Tubby's...After numerous collaborations, Daman is launching a new project with his first solo reggae album: Life, composed with Roots Heritage, who also back Max Romeo. The latter even delivers a brilliant featured vocal on the single "Hurt," the second track from a promising opus, in stores in September 2021. At 33, the artist stands out from his peers in both substance and style. Vocally first, Daman forges his own path without following dominant trends. Freely inspired by the immense Martin Campbell, he has found a unique timbre, placed high for a nasal and sensitive voice. Without forcing it, this voice always strikes straight to the heart, whether on dub stepper rhythms or on downtempo or more classic productions. As for the lyrics, they often reflect the singer's commitment to feminism, atheism, and a libertarian society. A singular and courageous stance on the French reggae scene, in which one would be wrong to confine him.
