Florilège of court airs on the Stances of Cid, featuring the talent of countertenor Cyril Auvity accompanied by the Ensemble l'Yriade. Cyril Auvity and L'Yriade make their debut with Glossa with Stances of Cid, a program of court airs specifically designed for the haute-contre voice. 17th century France was thrilled by the air de cour, a secular song that delighted all of society, from the cobbler to the marchioness... One of the most suitable voices for this repertoire was that of haute-contre, embodied today by Cyril Auvity. The Stances of Cid are too rarely performed: the text comes from Corneille's Cid, a tragicomedy whose extraordinary success in Paris lasted well beyond its creation in 1637. Another master of the genre, Michael Lambert, completes this program: he highlights the wonderful balance of the music of the Ancien Régime between harmony and melody and the instrumental interludes from the Nations of Couperin performed by L'Yriade with that quality that François Le Grand calls the "Jene-scay-quoy."
