Cymande: the essential British funk band you need to know!
With the release of their first self-titled album in 1972, Cymande established themselves as innovators on the British black music scene. Drawing on their Guyanese and Jamaican roots, the band blends reggae basslines, Nyabinghi percussion with Afro accents, psychedelic touches, and American-style funk to create a unique sound they have since dubbed "Nyah-rock." On January 13, Partisan Records will reissue Cymande's first album, remastered at Abbey Road Studios and available for the first time on translucent orange vinyl.
