Seth Olinsky began the story of Cy Dune with a songbook: 100 songs he composed over 5 years during his travels, tours, and performances with Akron\/Family, or collaborations with Rhys Chatham, Michael Gira, William Parker, Hamid Drake, Keiji Haino, and Tatsuya Nakatani. These 100 tracks were finished and on demo in 2010. In 2011, Olinsky moved to the desert and began recording acoustically, but through a revelation (his mother gave him Patti Smith's album \"Just Kids\" for Christmas), he finally plugged in his guitar and electrified his songs.
