cumgirl8 re-emerge with ‘8th cumming,’ a brand new album on 4AD. Formed by Veronika Vilim (guitar), Chase Lombardo (drums), Lida Fox (bass), and Avishag Rodrigues (guitar), the Manhattan quartet has, in just a few years, forged a reputation for their sound, oscillating between synth-wave, experimental punk, and garage 3.0. A kind of fever dream, chaotic and utopian, ‘8th cumming’ finds its genesis in a philosophy dear to the band: cyberfeminism and its conception of the relationship between humans and machines, and nature and technology. ‘8th cumming’ seeks to examine our relationships to the IRL and URL worlds from an apocalyptic perspective, contrasting a rapidly deteriorating ecosystem with the imposition of a flashy and materialistic way of life.
